What the licence gives you

The TII Falcon License 2.0 is Apache 2.0-based. That base is what lets you use, modify, fine-tune and redistribute the weights, including in commercial products, and it is why Falcon 2 is described as open weight rather than merely open to research.

What the acceptable use policy adds

On top of Apache 2.0, TII adds an acceptable use policy. This is the part that is not standard Apache 2.0, and it is the part most teams skip reading. If your use case touches anything a policy like this typically restricts, read it before you build.

Read the acceptable use policy as a separate document from the licence grant.
Keep the licence and attribution with any redistribution of the weights or a derivative.
Hugging Face shows the repository licence as unknown, so do not treat Hugging Face metadata as the licence.

Falcon 1 used a different licence

Falcon 1 models were released under the TII Falcon License 1.0, which was not Apache 2.0-based. Licences do not carry backwards, so a Falcon 1 model does not inherit the Falcon 2 terms and vice versa.
